今年，我們再次呈現精采的片單與影迷分享，目前規劃十大單元。年度主題則為〈愛慾星球〉，基於愛的多種定義，我們從高雄電影節獨有的奇幻特質，關注世界各國取材自羅曼史與慾望的奇幻電影。〈幻想無限〉則呈現科幻、驚悚或是超異能等類型電影，要讓觀眾大開眼界。 〈焦點影人〉則向觀眾推薦泰國新銳導演尼堤瓦特．泰拉托恩與土耳其導演雷哈．艾登。〈國際視窗〉則邀集來自各大影展的年度佳片。「幻想雙重奏：泰國VS塞爾維亞」。這個單元是選定了近幾年來在國際影壇深受矚目的泰國電影，和新有佳績的塞爾維亞電影，作一個對望。是比對地辯證，也是並置地展現各自風情。而「人民力量 People Power」單元，延續了高雄電影節一向對人權議題的關注，藉著選映相關電影。「新台風」邀來了《無米樂》導演莊益增的新作《牽阮的手》（三小時導演版），是一場台灣電影長短片嘉年華。「高雄魂-高雄城市記事 - Kaohsiung Spirit」則是影像創作者寫給高雄的情書，特別企劃新增〈推理劇場：人性空間〉則以推理小說名作和 電影的對話為題。影展預計將邀請超過一百部的國際佳片。
This year, we would like to present films featuring eight themes for the Kaohsiung FilmFestival. The topic Love & Eros is concerning romance and desire mix with fantasy and also is related with love story but beyond the realistic and variation. Directors in Focus focusing on these prize winners of international film festivals and new work of masters, such as the director Nithiwat Tharatorn, and director Reha Erdem. PANORAMA features these award-winning films of many international film festivals and new work of masters. Fantasy presents films which are beyond imagination, including science fiction, terrorist and supernatural, leading the audiences to explore the infinite world. The topic of Spectacular Debut: American Independent Spirit Awards Selections features these amazing films debuted by new rising directors of American Independent Spirit Awards. And the People Power presents film chronicling the life and story of blue-collar workers and human right. In addition, the Prospective Directors- New Taiwan Experience feature presents these films of new helming directors in Taiwan, and the Kaohsiung Choice selects these film works which are filmed in Kaohsiung.
